Bakori, Katsina State — April 6, 2026
The Bakori Local Government Area Critical Stakeholders’ Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports circulating on social media alleging that it has endorsed Hon. Ibrahim Haruna Dan Alkali as a consensus candidate for the Katsina State House of Assembly.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the committee described the claim as false and misleading, stressing that it had not held any meeting to adopt or endorse any aspirant for the Bakori State Assembly seat or any other elective position.

According to the statement signed by the committee’s Secretary, Hon. Abubakar Shuaibu Bakori Solo, the purported endorsement did not emanate from the group and should be disregarded by party members and the general public.
“The committee wishes to categorically dissociate itself from this false claim. At no time did we meet to adopt or endorse any individual as a consensus candidate,” the statement said.
The stakeholders’ body reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, unity, and democratic principles, emphasizing that candidates should emerge through transparent, free, and credible party primaries or through a properly coordinated consensus process, rather than through what it described as political propaganda.
The committee also disclosed that a meeting earlier scheduled for Sunday, April 5, 2026, to deliberate on political developments in the local government area was postponed due to security concerns.

It explained that credible intelligence reports indicated that some individuals had allegedly mobilized thugs to disrupt the gathering and cause unrest. The decision to postpone the meeting, it noted, was taken to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
While warning against the spread of misinformation capable of creating tension in the area, the committee urged party faithfuls and residents of Bakori to remain calm and await the official timetable for party primaries.
The stakeholders reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants in the forthcoming political process.
