No fewer than 1,000 couples in Katsina State have received premarital guidance ahead of a planned mass wedding, organised by the state government in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation.
The counselling session, held on Thursday, was aimed at equipping the prospective couples with the knowledge and skills required for successful and harmonious marriages.
The initiative was organised in partnership with the Al-Usra Marital Support Foundation as part of preparations for the large-scale wedding programme.
Officials said the exercise focused on critical issues such as mutual understanding, responsibilities of spouses, conflict resolution, and the importance of patience and tolerance in marriage.
They emphasised that the guidance was necessary to ensure that the marriages being facilitated under the programme are stable and enduring, in line with cultural and religious values.
The mass wedding is part of broader efforts by the Katsina State Government to support vulnerable individuals, promote family stability, and address social challenges affecting communities across the state.
The organisers also urged the couples to apply the lessons learned during the sessions in building strong family foundations and contributing positively to society.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the mass wedding programme is expected to feature about 1,000 couples drawn from different parts of the state.
