Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has said peace is gradually returning to the state, particularly in some frontline local government areas previously affected by banditry, expressing optimism that 2026 will witness even greater security improvements and accelerated development.
The Governor gave the assurance in his New Year message to residents as Katsina State enters 2026, noting that the improved security situation is the result of sustained collaboration among the state government, security agencies, traditional rulers, community structures and the general public.
He commended security personnel, community watch corps, traditional institutions and residents for their support and cooperation in tackling insecurity, adding that the administration remains firmly committed to consolidating the gains recorded so far.
Governor Radda also highlighted key achievements of his administration across critical sectors, stressing that education remains a top priority under his “Building Your Future” agenda. He cited the provision of bursaries and scholarships, massive construction and renovation of classrooms, as well as the distribution of multimillion-naira educational materials to ensure access to quality education for all children, regardless of financial background.
On infrastructure, the Governor disclosed that Urban Renewal Projects have been launched across the three senatorial districts, with the construction of roads and other infrastructural facilities underway. He assured residents that more legacy projects would be commissioned in 2026 to further transform both urban and rural communities and improve the quality of life.
Governor Radda said his administration has also recorded significant progress in agriculture and livestock development, with interventions that have supported farmers to achieve bumper harvests, addressed food insecurity and empowered thousands of women. He pledged continued support for farmers and livestock breeders to enable Katsina State contribute meaningfully to national food security.
In the health sector, the Governor announced the approval of 15 fully equipped conventional ambulances, alongside the ongoing assembly of tricycle ambulances to serve all 361 wards of the state. He added that primary health centres are being upgraded to operate round the clock, while recruitment of health personnel is ongoing to strengthen service delivery.
The Governor further disclosed that he toured all 34 local government areas of the state during the year to commission projects and engage directly with residents, assuring that feedback from the engagements would guide government actions in 2026.
He urged residents to remain patient, prayerful and supportive of government policies, while praying for peace, unity and prosperity for Katsina State and Nigeria in the New Year.
