Family members, friends, colleagues and well-wishers today gathered in Katsina to celebrate a reception in honour of Justice Abubakar Muhammad Dikko, one of the recently inaugurated judges of the Katsina State High Court. The event, organised by his loved ones, was held amid a warm atmosphere of pride and recognition for his professional achievements and service to the legal profession.

Justice Dikko, affectionately known as “Babangida,” was born on 28 October 1965 in Dankama, Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina State. He is the fourth child of his father, Malami, and began his educational journey in Yandaki Primary School in 1973. Following several transfers for primary education, he completed this level at Yandaki in 1979. He later attended the Arabic Teachers’ College in Katsina, graduating in June 1985, and continued to Government College, Katsina, where he obtained his Senior Secondary Certificate in 1989.
Dikko’s academic pursuit continued at Katsina Polytechnic from 1990 to 1992, earning a Diploma in Sharia Law. Upon completion, he joined the Supreme Court of Nigeria in February 1993 as an Assistant Registrar, beginning a distinguished judicial career that spanned more than two decades. While serving, he attained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) at the University of Abuja in 2006 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008 after attending the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, Abuja. He also pursued additional qualifications, including an Advanced Diploma in Estate Management and a Master’s degree in Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2018.

Before his elevation to the bench, Justice Dikko held several key roles at the Supreme Court, including Assistant to senior judicial officers and leadership positions such as Director of Legal Services. His career also involved supervisory and welfare responsibilities, including serving as Chairman of various staff committees.

On 27 October 2025, Justice Dikko was officially sworn in as a Judge of the Katsina State High Court of Justice by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, alongside two other jurists. The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Katsina, marked a significant milestone in his professional life and was attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, and family members.

At the reception, relatives and friends highlighted Justice Dikko’s dedication to justice, his humility, and his commitment to the rule of law. Speakers praised his resilience throughout his long years of study and service, noting that his new role as a High Court Judge was a testament to his hard work and integrity.

In his personal life, Justice Dikko is a family man, blessed with a wife and six children. His journey from humble beginnings in Kaita to the High Court bench serves as an inspiration to many aspiring legal professionals in Katsina State and beyond.
The reception reaffirmed the esteem in which he is held by those close to him and the broader community, who expressed confidence that he will serve with fairness and uphold the highest standards of judicial conduct.
