Katsina Trains 20 Game Masters in New Sports Education Programme

-

Katsina State’s six-day Sports Education Programme for secondary school Game Masters is currently underway at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, with officials describing the initiative as a major step toward integrating sports more effectively into classroom learning.

The workshop, themed “Elevate Your Game: Educate Through Play and Unleash the Power of Sports in Classrooms,” brings together 20 Game Masters selected from the state’s 12 Zonal Education Quality Assurance Offices. It is designed to equip participants with modern coaching skills and practical techniques in volleyball, basketball and football.

The training is a joint effort of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with Evolution Sports Development and Coaching UK and You Vs You, both based in London. The sessions are being facilitated by London-based instructor Daniel Dodge, who is offering participants international-standard training.

According to Shamsudeen Ibrahim, Director of the Katsina Football Academy, the initiative reflects the Katsina State Government’s ongoing commitment to improving education and youth development under Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration. He noted that the programme is running smoothly and praised the governor for providing the vision and support necessary for its implementation.

“We appreciate His Excellency for his dedication and continuous support in promoting sports and education development in Katsina State,” Ibrahim said, adding that the training would enhance the capacity of teachers and ultimately improve learning outcomes for students.

Top officials who monitored Friday’s session included Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Muhammad Rabi’u Muhammad; Executive Director of the Sports Council, Alhaji Bello Abdu; Katsina Football Academy Secretary, Ahmed Shu’abu; and Lawal Bako, Assistant Director of Sports at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

The programme continues through the week.
