The Governing Council of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, has approved the promotion of 609 senior teaching and non-teaching staff of the university.
The approval, contained in a statement by the Director of the Directorate of Human Resources Management, Mr Lawal Yakub Olarewaju, takes effect from October 1, 2026.
The promotion exercise marks the conclusion of the university’s 2026 Promotion Exercise, which commenced in June following the issuance of a promotion call memo by the Registry Department.
A breakdown of the exercise shows that 16 professors and 19 readers among the senior teaching staff were promoted, subject to favourable external assessments.
In the non-teaching category, two senior staff were promoted to the rank of Directors, four to Deputy Registrars in the Registry Department, one to Deputy Bursar in the Bursary, and four to Deputy Directors.
According to the statement, the exercise passed through various assessment stages before all eligible staff were recommended to the Central Appointments and Promotion Committee (CAPC), chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman.

The CAPC subsequently submitted the list of eligible staff recommended for promotion to the Governing Council for approval.
The approved staff have been notified through emails of their promotion and congratulated on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
They were also informed that their promotion letters would be available for collection from Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Directorate of Human Resources Management.
The university said the 2026 exercise marked the first time in its history that promotion letters were being issued on the first working day of October.
The exercise was initiated in June when the Registry Department circulated a memo to all faculties, departments and units to commence the process through the submission of lists of recommended and non-recommended staff for promotion.
