FUDMA Ready for 2026/2027 Academic Session, Management Says

-

The Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) says it has concluded preparations for the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session, with arrangements made to receive both fresh and returning students.

The university’s approved academic calendar indicates that students are expected to arrive on 30 August 2026, while registration and late registration are scheduled for 31 August–13 September and 14–20 September 2026, respectively.

Lectures are expected to commence on 2 September and run until 28 November 2026, with the first-semester examinations scheduled for 30 November–19 December 2026. The Add and Drop period is slated for 21–25 September 2026.

Speaking to the FUDMA Weekly Bulletin, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr Umar Mamman Mai Fata, said the Deanery had commenced comprehensive preparations to ensure that facilities were ready ahead of students’ return.

He said the university had inspected its hostels and other facilities both within and outside the Main Campus to identify available functional facilities, those requiring repairs and areas where additional facilities were needed.

According to him, FUDMA currently has five hostels outside the university premises, comprising one female hostel at Isa Kaita College and three male hostels, while two undergraduate hostels are located at Hayin Gada and Darawa.

The Postgraduate Hostel is located along Abuja Road and comprises three hostels—two for male students and one for female students.

Dr Mamman said the findings from the inspection had been presented to the university management for necessary action.

He also identified transportation as another area receiving attention, noting that the arrival of a new CNG-powered bus, alongside other functional university buses, would significantly improve transportation services.

He added that the relocation of some faculties from the Take-off Campus to the Main Campus would further enhance the university’s operations.

The Dean said the university’s staff were ready to engage students immediately upon their arrival, adding that some lecturers had already begun contacting student representatives across different levels to ascertain their presence on campus.

“We are very much ready,” he said, stressing that the Department of Biological Sciences was prepared to commence academic activities as soon as students returned.

Meanwhile, the Director of ICT, Dr Muhammad Sani, said his Directorate had completed major maintenance work on its servers and other equipment as part of preparations for the new session.

He said improvements had also been made to the university portal, with emphasis on maintenance and service delivery.

According to him, the ICT Directorate had created avenues for staff and students to access several ICT-related services without necessarily visiting the ICT office, including the creation of a self-help desk.

Dr Sani added that technical personnel had been deployed to assist students and staff with online and physical registration as well as other academic-related services.

The preparations are part of the university’s efforts to ensure a smooth resumption and uninterrupted academic activities during the 2026/2027 session.
