The management of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, has disowned a campaign poster circulating in the public space purportedly promoting the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman, as a presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The university, in a disclaimer published on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, said it had become aware of the printing and circulation of a campaign poster bearing Othman’s photograph and promoting him under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 presidential election.
The disclaimer, signed by the Director of Information and Protocol, Nasiru M. Abdul, described the poster as the work of “mischief makers” and dissociated the university management from its contents.
According to the statement, Othman “has never indicated interest in participating in partisan politics, let alone contesting for the nation’s highest office—the Presidency.”
It further stated that the Vice-Chancellor had neither authorised nor mandated any individual or group to print or circulate the campaign poster.
“The attention of the Management of Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, has been drawn to the printing and circulation of a campaign poster purporting that the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. M.K. Othman, is vying for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria: 2027 and Beyond,” the statement said.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Management wishes to dissociate itself completely from the mischief and antics of those who printed and are circulating the poster.”
The university urged members of the public to disregard the campaign material, describing its circulation as an act of mischief.
Meanwhile, the management said it was taking appropriate steps to identify those behind the poster and would take all lawful measures to deal with them accordingly.
The disclaimer was issued by the Directorate of Information and Protocol of the university.
