Security Forces Kill Five Suspected Bandits, Rescue 32 Victims in Katsina Operations

-

Security forces in Katsina State have intensified operations against armed bandit groups, killing five suspected bandits and rescuing 32 kidnapped victims during recent offensives across affected communities.

The operations targeted the network of a notorious bandit leader identified as Muhammadu Fulani, who is believed to be operating across Matazu, Musawa, Kankia, Charanchi, and parts of neighbouring Kano State.

According to the Katsina State Government, security operatives also recovered weapons and equipment used by the criminal gang, including an AK-47 rifle, 10 magazines, and nine motorcycles.

Among those reportedly killed during the operations was Samagi, said to be a close associate of another suspected bandit leader, Muhammadu Kachalla.

Authorities disclosed that the rescued victims comprised 10 women, nine men, and 13 children who had been held captive by the armed group.

Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, said the operations were part of ongoing efforts by the administration of Dikko Umaru Radda to combat insecurity and dismantle bandit networks in the state.

He reiterated that the state government would not negotiate with bandits, stressing that the administration remained committed to eliminating criminal activities and restoring peace across all affected areas.

The commissioner added that security forces were continuing the manhunt for Muhammadu Fulani and other gang members, with operations still ongoing in several communities.

Residents were also urged to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence to aid ongoing operations against criminal elements.
