Governor Radda Commissions Solar-Powered Digital Billboards in Katsina

-

KATSINA — Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has commissioned three solar-powered digital billboards in Katsina State, as part of efforts to advance digital transformation and improve public communication.

The billboards, powered entirely by solar energy, are designed to ensure uninterrupted service and reduce dependence on the national power grid, while promoting sustainability and cost efficiency.

Speaking at the commissioning, the governor said the installations would serve as platforms for disseminating government announcements, public service messages, and emergency alerts, as well as providing advertising opportunities for private businesses.

According to him, the project will enhance communication between government and citizens by delivering timely information on policies, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities.

“This is not just about billboards; it is about using technology to connect our people, strengthen governance, and create opportunities for growth,” Radda said.

The project was implemented by the Katsina State Directorate of Information and Communication Technology in partnership with Innercore Media.

The initiative forms part of the state’s broader strategy to leverage technology for improved governance, bridge information gaps, and foster collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Officials said the billboards would also open up new revenue streams for the state through advertising, while supporting business visibility and economic activity.
