Multiple Attacks Leave Several Dead, Houses Burnt in Bakori Communities

-

A series of suspected bandit attacks in parts of Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State has left several people dead, others injured, and properties destroyed, raising fresh concerns over security in the area.

In the latest incident on Tuesday night, April 28, 2026, armed assailants reportedly invaded Gidan Wawo and Gidan Sarkin Noma—twin settlements in Guga Ward—where they opened fire on residents.

At least two people, identified as Alhaji Sabi’u and Mubarak, were confirmed killed in the attack. Earlier reports had indicated the death of Alhaji Sabiu Abdullahi, while additional casualties were later reported as more details emerged.

The attackers also set two houses ablaze and made away with livestock, including sheep and goats, before fleeing towards nearby communities.

Residents described the assault as intense, with prolonged gunfire that left significant destruction and panic in its wake.

In a related development, another attack was recorded a day earlier, on Monday evening, April 27, at the outskirts of Lamiɗo town in the same local government area.

During the incident, a man identified as Yakubu Kaku, popularly known as “Yanshuni,” was shot alongside another victim, Kabiru Lamiɗo. Kaku later died from injuries sustained in the attack, while Kabiru is currently receiving treatment. A third individual, Sani Lamiɗo, reportedly escaped unharmed.

The spate of attacks adds to recent security challenges in the area. Just days earlier, seven people were shot along the Guga–Turare road, with two fatalities recorded, while a separate clash between security operatives and suspected bandits near Kakumi resulted in the death of one assailant and injury to a local security volunteer.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the latest incidents, but security operations are expected to be intensified as efforts continue to curb banditry in affected communities.

Residents, meanwhile, have expressed growing concern over the frequency and scale of the attacks, calling for urgent intervention to restore peace and safety in the area.
