Governor Radda Calls for Unity, Reassures Grieving Families at Eid Prayers

-

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has urged Muslims to sustain the virtues of unity, compassion, and generosity beyond Ramadan, while reassuring grieving families of his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and security in Katsina State.

The governor made the remarks on Friday shortly after observing the two raka’at Eid-el-Fitr prayer at Batagarawa Mosque, where the prayers were led by Imam Abdullahi Musa.

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda

Speaking to journalists, Radda described Eid-el-Fitr as a significant occasion in the life of Muslims, marking the successful completion of Ramadan and a time for reflection, gratitude, and celebration. He said the festival offers an opportunity for the Muslim Ummah to strengthen bonds of unity, love, and mutual support.

The governor stressed that the lessons of Ramadan—such as kindness, fairness, patience, and generosity—must be sustained in everyday life to promote harmony and social cohesion.

He expressed appreciation to residents of the state for their resilience and cooperation, particularly amid prevailing security challenges, and commended security agencies and community members for their efforts in maintaining peace and stability.

Radda, however, acknowledged that this year’s Eid comes at a difficult time for some families who have lost loved ones in recent incidents. He assured affected communities that the government shares in their grief and is intensifying efforts to address the situation.

He expressed optimism that improved security would enable residents to celebrate future Sallah festivals in peace, safety, and happiness.

The governor also prayed for divine protection, peace, and prosperity for the state and the country, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to restore lasting peace and improve the well-being of citizens.

He called on the public to continue supporting government initiatives and to remain united in the collective pursuit of development and stability.

Senior government officials, religious leaders, and community stakeholders were in attendance at the Eid prayer.

The statement was issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, on March 20, 2026.
