15 Killed in Jibia Clash as Security Forces Restore Calm

-

No fewer than 15 people have been killed in a violent clash in Jibia Local Government Area, with security forces restoring order in the affected communities.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday in Falale and Kadobe, was confirmed by the Katsina State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.

According to the ministry, the violence began after vigilante members from the communities clashed with repentant bandits, leading to the death of three persons. The confrontation reportedly triggered a reprisal attack that resulted in additional casualties, bringing the total number of deaths to 15.

Security operatives, including personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Civilian Watch groups and community leaders, were subsequently deployed to the area and succeeded in bringing the situation under control.

Authorities said the joint intervention helped prevent further escalation and restored calm to the affected villages.

The state government has urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations into the incident continue, assuring that efforts are underway to ensure justice for the victims.

The government also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property under the leadership of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, stressing that measures are being sustained to maintain peace across the state.

Officials noted that Jibia had remained relatively peaceful for over a year due to ongoing security strategies, and called on residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies to support efforts at achieving lasting peace.
