The Katsina City Charity Support Foundation has concluded its sixth and final meeting for the 2026 Ramadan intervention programme, announcing the completion of the final disbursement of funds raised for humanitarian activities during the holy month.
Coordinator of the initiative, Muhammad Danjuma Katsina, Publisher of Katsina Times online newspaper, disclosed that the meeting, held on the night of the 27th of Ramadan—considered one of the most spiritually significant nights in Islam—recorded near full attendance from committee members.
According to the foundation, a total of ₦10.72 million was generated from 78 donors since the beginning of the fundraising campaign. As of March 15, ₦8.321 million had already been disbursed, leaving a balance of ₦2.399 million.
The funds were distributed among three key intervention committees responsible for providing cooked meals to fasting Muslims, distributing raw food items to vulnerable households, and assisting inmates or individuals facing imprisonment due to unpaid fines or debts.
Breakdown of the disbursement shows that the first round of intervention on February 15 consumed ₦3.12 million, while ₦1.52 million was spent during the second disbursement on February 22. The third intervention carried out on March 1 accounted for ₦2.244 million, while the fourth round on March 8 utilised ₦1.437 million.
Among the prominent donors were Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, who contributed ₦2 million, and former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema, who donated ₦300,000. Other contributors included media professionals, public officials, community leaders, and private individuals.
A correspondent of THISDAY Newspaper in Katsina, Francis Sardauna, also donated ₦50,000 to the initiative, a gesture widely praised for promoting interfaith solidarity as he is a Christian supporting a Ramadan programme.
The foundation announced that it has officially closed the acceptance of donations for the 2026 Ramadan intervention, noting that further contributions will resume next year if circumstances permit.
Despite the closure of donations, the foundation’s operational committees will continue their activities until the end of Ramadan. The cooked-meal committee will maintain daily feeding operations until the 30th day of fasting if the month completes its full cycle, while the raw-food distribution team is scheduled to conduct its final outreach in the Masarar Kasa area on Tuesday.
The prison intervention committee is also expected to conclude its activities between Tuesday and Wednesday by assisting additional indigent individuals facing possible incarceration due to unpaid fines.
Organisers expressed gratitude to all donors and supporters, including those who offered prayers or intended to contribute but were unable to do so. They also pledged to continue providing updates on the committees’ activities until the end of Ramadan.
