Disruption Erupts at ADC Meeting in Daura

-

A meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Daura, Katsina State, ended abruptly on Friday following a heated disagreement among party members over the process of registering members and distributing party cards.

The meeting, held on March 13 at a venue known as the Arena in Daura, was convened by the Katsina State chapter of the ADC to brief members on the importance of party registration and to begin issuing membership cards to interested supporters.

However, tensions arose over the proposed method for handling the registration and distribution of the party cards. According to reports, a prominent party figure, Senator Babban Kaita, suggested that the registration and card distribution should be managed by his associates across the local government areas within the Daura Senatorial Zone.

The proposal reportedly angered supporters of another party figure, Lawal Daura, whose followers—both elders and youths—strongly rejected the arrangement.

The disagreement quickly escalated into a heated exchange, disrupting the gathering and forcing the meeting to end prematurely without achieving its stated objectives.

Witnesses said supporters of Lawal Daura openly challenged some of the senior figures present at the meeting, leading to a chaotic scene that ultimately brought the event to an abrupt close.

The incident highlights growing internal tensions within the ADC in Katsina State as the party continues efforts to expand its membership base in the region.

The report was first published by Katsina Times.
