Governor Radda Commends Police Officer Bakura for Gold Medal at National Shooting Competition

-

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has commended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdullahi Bakura for winning a gold medal at the 15th Biennial Nigeria Police Games Shooting Competition held in Asaba.

Bakura secured the gold medal in the shooting event at the national police games, adding to his previous achievement when he won a silver medal at the 14th edition of the competition held in Ibadan in 2024.

The police officer, who currently serves as Escort Commander responsible for the security movement of the Katsina governor, also distinguished himself by commanding both the opening and closing ceremonies of the games.

The gold medal was presented by the Chairman of the Force Sports Planning Committee, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Fom Pam Joseph, alongside Assistant Commissioner of Police Garba S. Yaro.

Receiving the officer after the competition, Governor Radda congratulated him on the feat and praised his dedication to duty.

“You have done well. I am proud of your exploits in Asaba. Work hard so you can represent Nigeria in the next Olympiad,” the governor said.

Bakura’s performance in shooting has been supported by specialised international training. He attended the Designated Defence Marksman course at the European Security Academy, where he also completed courses in Close Protection Operations and Counter-Terrorism.

He further undertook the Unit Commander Course at Ila Orangun.

Beyond competitive shooting, Bakura has also played key roles in national ceremonial duties. Since 2019, he has served as a parade commander in Nigeria’s national parade involving the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Nigeria Police Force.

He also commanded the Nigeria Police Force Guard during the swearing-in ceremonies of former President Muhammadu Buhari until 2022.

Governor Radda urged the officer to remain dedicated and sustain the high standard that earned him national recognition at the competition.
