Governor Radda Donates ₦50m Personal Zakat to Katsina Zakat and Waqf Board

-

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has donated ₦50 million from his personal wealth as zakat to the Katsina State Zakat and Waqf Board.

The presentation took place on Tuesday at the office of the Katsina State Zakat and Waqf Board, where the governor formally handed over part of his annual zakat contribution to the agency.

Speaking at the event, Radda said he had consistently paid zakat from his personal wealth and noted that his assets had continued to grow since he began doing so. He highlighted the social and economic benefits of zakat, stating that its importance inspired his administration to establish the Zakat and Waqf Board to institutionalise the practice and support the less privileged.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the National Zakat and Waqf Associations in Nigeria and Deputy Secretary of the International Zakat and Waqf body, Engr. He also commended Radda for supporting the recent national conference of zakat organisations held in Katsina and for assigning oversight of sacrificial activities during the ongoing Hajj operations in the state.

The Chairman of the Katsina State Zakat and Waqf Board, Dr. Ahmad Musa Abdullahi, expressed appreciation for what he described as the governor’s unrelenting support since the establishment of the board.
