The Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area, Hon. Abubakar Musa Barde, has seen off the first batch of students selected to attend the Katsina State Government’s Special Smart Secondary Schools.
The send-off ceremony took place on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, when Hon. Barde bid farewell to 27 students from Bakori who successfully passed the entrance examination into the Special Smart Secondary School located in Radda, Charanchi Local Government Area.

The initiative follows a recent directive by the Katsina State Government under the leadership of Governor Malam Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, CON, mandating the identification of exceptionally talented students from each ward across the state to sit for qualifying examinations into the newly established Special Smart Secondary Schools in the state’s three senatorial zones.
The students from Bakori constitute the first batch to commence studies at the Radda school. Additional batches are expected to be deployed to the Special Smart Secondary Schools in Dumurkul and Jikamshi upon completion of construction works at the facilities.

Addressing the students during the farewell, Hon. Barde encouraged them to be good ambassadors of Bakori Local Government and the state at large. He also provided them with educational materials worth millions of naira to motivate them and support their academic pursuits in a conducive learning environment.
Parents of the students, alongside the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to Governor Radda for the policy of sponsoring gifted students and providing them access to quality education at no cost. They also commended the leadership of the Bakori Local Government Chairman and their teachers for their commitment to educational development and effective guidance.
