Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has raised concerns over worsening insecurity in parts of the state and sought stronger federal support to address the challenge during a strategic meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The closed-door meeting, held on Tuesday, also focused on Kano’s development priorities, including major infrastructure projects and enhanced collaboration with the Federal Government, according to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf briefed the President on recent security incidents in the state, including the killing of a housewife and her children, which he described as tragic and alarming. He stressed the need for decisive federal intervention to strengthen security operations and protect lives and property.

The governor highlighted the role of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in complementing conventional security agencies and called for closer cooperation between the state outfit and federal security institutions.

On development, Yusuf outlined Kano’s mega infrastructure agenda and expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the Federal Government’s intervention on the Wujuwuju Road project, describing it as a critical step toward boosting economic growth and job creation.

He further appealed for the President’s support to fast-track federal projects in the state and ensure Kano benefits fully from federal programmes and investments.

In his response, President Tinubu assured the governor of the Federal Government’s commitment to working with Kano State to address security challenges and promote sustainable development.
